Nowadays Polish people are able to travel where ever they like, using offers by small, airline companies. Thanks to that we have a chance to explore amazing monuments in biggest European metropolis. However also in our country there are plenty of places worth to be visited. If you are looking for some interesting destination in Poland, you should remember about Katowice.
Mode of transportation
Depending on a city you are living in, anther mode of transportation will be better for you. If you are from the southern part of Poland, like Wroclaw or Cracow, you can book a seat in a bus, plenty of carriers are offering great connections every day, in reasonable price. For example the trip from the Wroclaw will take about 2,5 hours and from Cracow even less. However if you are living in the northern Poland, like in Gdansk for example, the road by bus will be too long and expensive. In that case you should try to seek for the nice deal of domestic flights. Sometimes for a ticket from Gdansk to Katowice you may pay even less than 50 zlotys in both sides! You only have to book the flight couple of months before the journey.
The best monuments
Even if this city is not typical metropolis with historical architecture, it still has a lot to offer to the travelers. First of all you should visit a coal mine named Guido. It is closed now, in 2007 it was opened for travelers. Inside you can see amazing machines from many different periods of times, which were in use by miners. Big attraction is a pub situated 320 meters underground, where you may taste delicious, local beer. If you are interested into architecture of Modernism, you need to go for a trip to Nikoszowiec, old district of the city. Entire neighborhood was designed for a families of miners in a very simple and convenient way. The main material of each building is red brick.
Another attractions
If you like to get to know more about Katowice and entire region, go for a tour to the Museum of Silesia. You will find in there interesting exponents like furniture, letters, vintage coins, clothes and books. During the summertime you can rest in the Valley of Three Lakes, popular meeting place for travelers and citizens. You can swim in the lake, eat delicious meal or drink some beer. Nice fun is guaranteed in there! In this amazing city you can also visit Silesian Park, second the biggest object like that in entire Europe. It contains local zoologist and botanic garden and collection of Ethnographical Museum.
