United Kingdom is almost a fortress, since early medieval times no other country were able to invade it. That is why London is still filled with amazing monuments from many periods of time. First of all you should go to the Westminster Abby, a complex of temples from medieval times, with amazing Gothic cathedral in the middle. This is very important temple for royals, each king is getting coroneted inside of it. Another nice piece of building is Westminster Palace, the residence of parliament. It was build in nineteenth century in Gothic Revival style. The most popular part of the building is a tower with Big Ben at the top of it. Also Westminster Bridge is attached to this construction. One of the oldest buildings in entire London is The Tower, medieval fortress from eleventh century. For many years it was a place where royal prisoners were kept, like Mary the Stuart for example.

As a capital, London is also perfect place to visit many interesting galleries. Nowadays the most popular is Madame Tussauds gallery of wax figures. It is perfect place if you like a pop culture characters, like singers, actors and other celebrities. For the best examples of British painters you need to visit Tate Britain, museum with huge collection of Gainsborough, Rossetti, Blake and a lot more. Also Museum of National History is worth to be seen, you will admire in there skeletons of the dinosaurs, in natural (very tall) sizes! It is perfect spot for adults and children.
